I have a wonderful reader submission today from a small Finnish textile company, Saana ja Olli. Their story is as great as their fabrics - run by a young couple, the two met while at a music concert. Soon after, they were dating and studying textile design together. A mutual belief that there was a lack of sustainable fabric led to the creation of Saana ja Olli's first collection, printed on 100% European hemp fabric:

We fell in love with the modern, simple and yet whimsical feel of the collection. It celebrates many of the things I hold near and dear to my heart - the forest, the creatures within it, and the life that surrounds it. I can see their fabric as the perfect choice for stylish home accessories such as toss pillows, teatowels or napkins and, perhaps it's the reindeer but it even has a fleeting hint of Christmas, so if you aren't a fan of the trad red and green, go Scandinavian with Saana ja Olli.

We can't wait to see what comes next for this wonderfully talented duo (availability in Canada would be nice!), but we're clearly not alone in that as Saana ja Olli are an award winning firm in Finland. Currently their textiles are available in Finland and Japan, or from their web shop, coming soon - for more information you can contact them at hello@saanajaolli.com
