Inspired | The Beekeeper

TEXT by Celine MacKay | PHOTOGRAPHS by Bees are so interconnected with our food system and ecology it's hard not to be curious about them. To nurture and protect them feels as though you are guardians of something much bigger than yourself. Please watch and enjoy this special short film about Megan Paska— a Brooklyn based beekeeper, backyard farmer and educator; created by the talented team at Made by Hand.

I have posted videos created by the talented team at Made by Hand before so you know how much I love them. They are incredibly well done and tell an interesting, intelligent and inspring story. I was delighted to receive an email yesterday from director and producer Keith Ehrlich about a new film they've just released— The Beekeeper. He thought it might be our cup of tea and he was right. If you follow Pure Green on a regular basis then you know how intriguing I find beekeeping (here's a few links to check out about other city beekeepers; also, stay tuned as we're profiling another beekeeper in our upcoming issue of Pure Green, shipping in early April). Bees are so interconnected with our food system and ecology it's hard not to be curious about them. To nurture and protect them feels as though you are guardians of something much bigger than yourself. Please watch and enjoy this special short film about Megan Paska— a Brooklyn based beekeeper, backyard farmer and educator. Oh, and if you are intrigued by the rooftop farm where Megan keeps her bees stay tuned. You just might see more of it in our upcoming issue which is all about sustainable food production and micro-farming in cities and at home! Subscribers will find the new issue in mailboxes in early April.
