It is with great pleasure and delight that I announce to you a new stockist of Pure Green Magazine: Kid Icarus, the celebrated and much loved screen printing shop in Toronto's Kensington Market. The shop is owned and operated by husband and wife team Michael Viglione + Bianca Bickmore who together produce their own line of screenprinted products such as posters, cards, wrapping paper, note paper, recipe cards (and more) along with pretty well any custom printing project you can imagine. Here's how my first venture into their shop went... "shoot! I left my wallet in the car! Must go and get it!" I knew I couldn't leave there empty handed. Among my favourites was this hand screen printed 2012 calendar:

The concept of this year's calendar is to take 12 artists and produce a calendar with each artist choosing one month to illustrate and only two colours to pull it off. There are no guidelines on layout or how the information is presented, the artist has full control. The entire calendar is screen printed by hand from the cover, right through to the backing. Here's a list of participating artists: January - Jeannie Phan; February - Selena Wong; March - Melinda Josie; April - Claire Louise Milne; May - Mike Ellis; June - Reverend Aitor; July - Katherine Verhoeven; August - Halley Rigbey; September - Caitlin Taguibao; October - Hyein Lee; November - Nolan Pelletier; December - Anjo Chiang. You can purchase the calendar ($80CDN) online via Etsy.

(I was particularly happy to see Melinda Josie included in the roster - she is an old highschool friend!)
