Jonathan in action.
Last weekend Pure Green made an appearance at the Centro Garden Farmer's Market, a great pop-up market in Burlington, Ontario. Based in the back lot of Centro (a fabulous garden and decor store), the market is small but it has all one could ever wish for: eggs, meat, produce, lemonade, preserves and other special treats from week to week. I loved the sense of community there, it was more like a summer social than a market! As a special guest, Pure Green and, more specifically, our Organic Kitchen, brought down some good eats for attendees. Jonathan and I set up an outdoor bistro of sorts and Jonthan cooked up one of his specialties, cilantro pork loin and margarita corn. It was a crowd-pleaser, to our delight. Of course there were lots of copies of the magazine to browse as well—it's always so great to meet new readers and get real-time feedback! Thanks to all who attended the market and gave us such a warm welcome, and to Centro and Barry for organizing!

The margarita corn is really simple. Simply marinate the cobs, uncooked, in fresh squeezed orange and lime juice, crushed coriander seed and a splash of tequila. Marinate overnight and throw on the bbq when ready to eat. It will be ready to eat in 5 minutes.

Jonathan restored two paddles which were part of our display. The one on the left he's had since childhood—it had a split which he fixed with glue and wire thread. The one on the right was flaking and splintering, in general terrible shape. I'm a fan of modern, dipped paint treatments, so after sanding down the paddle we applied a bright orange-red and oiled the paddle. I think I'm going to adopt it as part of my full-time decor at home, I love it!
